How do I purchase my own home if I’ve filed bankruptcy?

wounded healer asked:

I filed bankruptcy less than a yrs ago. The kind were your debt is consolidated and I have one monthly payment to a trustee. I am paying a large amt of rent and am wanted to turn that large rent payment into a house payment. Is there any legal ramifications to buying a home if you’ve just filed bankruptcy? I don’t want to continue throwing $ away renting.

Forget it. They will know that you are too big of a risk. Loans are much much harder to get now than even one year ago, but good luck to you!!

If you have a opened bankruptcy and it’s not discharged most companies will not finance you a home. It all depends on the company willing to lend you a loan. They like for the bankruptcy to be a couple years old though.

When you filed they tell you you cant try to buy/ or buy anything on credit until your bankruptcy is closed . If they find out you have- they can and will void EVERYTHING they approved and you will go back to owing all your creditors what you originally owed BEFORE you filed.Which is alot more money then you are now paying back. NOBODY is going to finance somebody who is in a current bankruptcy anyways. You are s.o.l. ….Have some patience-dont jump the gun. Get yourself out of the current mess before you try something so big…
